From First Kicks to Full Fields

Welcome to AYSO Mira Mesa, where kids grow through the game. We offer soccer programs focused on skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and fun.

No tryouts, no pressure, and no need to sign up for every season. Families can choose Fall, Winter, Spring, or the programs that work best for them.

Kickstart 4U Schoolyard 5U Core Soccer View Player Pathway

Programs by Age Group

Age 3

Kickstart 4U

Where it all begins. Kickstart is designed to help young players build motor skills, confidence, and comfort with the ball in a fun, safe, soccer-themed environment.

Parent Participation

Parent participation is encouraged so little players feel supported and comfortable.

Activity Leaders

Sessions are led by trained AYSO activity leaders using age-appropriate games and movement.

Age 4

Schoolyard 5U

Schoolyard introduces soccer through fun activities, movement games, and short scrimmages. This program is a great bridge between first soccer experiences and team play.

Professionally Coached

Schoolyard is professionally coached by First Touch.

Friday Evenings/ Saturday Mornings

Skills Sessions run Friday evenings and games at Saturday Mornings in Mira Mesa.

Ages 5 to 8

6U to 8U

Small teams, big energy. Players build foundational skills like passing, dribbling, teamwork, listening, and confidence while playing real games each week.

Weekly Rhythm

Typically one practice per week plus Saturday games.

Small-Sided Play

Teams play small-sided games on smaller fields, generally around 20 to 25 yards by 35 to 40 yards.

Ages 9 to 12

10U to 12U

This is where the game begins to grow. Players rotate through positions, learn basic tactics, and start understanding team shape, strategy, and decision-making.

Weekly Rhythm

Typically one to two practices per week plus weekend games.

Game Format

7 versus 7 format begins at 10U, including goalkeepers.

Field Size

Field size is approximately 35 to 45 yards by 55 to 65 yards, with 25-minute halves.

Local Travel

Teams may play home and away games against other AYSO regions in Area 11R, so some local travel is involved.

14U to 19U

Soccer for teens who love the game. As players get older, gameplay becomes more tactical and structured, with full-sided matches and a stronger emphasis on team strategy.

Full-Sided Play

Teams play 11 versus 11 on regulation-size fields.

U19 Match Length

U19 games are 90 minutes long, preparing players for the highest level of recreational soccer.

Weekly Rhythm

Typically one to two practices per week plus weekend games.
