GameChanger Coach Guide

GameChanger is the main team communication tool for schedules, locations, notes, RSVPs, team messages, and game updates.

Why We Use GameChanger

GameChanger gives coaches, team parents, players, and families one reliable place to find schedules, field locations, arrival times, reminders, messages, RSVPs, and game updates.

Using one platform helps avoid missed emails, last-minute texts, and game day confusion.

GameChanger Quick Start

Step 1: Import Team

Sign in with the same email used in Sports Connect and import your roster and schedule by clicking on the plus icon in the upper right hand.

Step 2: Add Staff

Add assistant coaches, and team parents so they can help with communication and scheduling. Do not removed pre-assigned team mangers.

Step 3: Invite Families

Invite parents and caregivers as Family so they can access messages, schedules, and RSVPs.

Step 4: Use Notes

Add field details, arrival time, parking notes, uniform reminders, and snack info to each event.

Getting Started

Step 1

Import Your Team

Download GameChanger Team Manager from your app store. Sign in with the same email used in Sports Connect, click on the "+" in the upper right corner,  then tap Import Sports Connect to auto-import your roster and schedule.

Step 2

Add Staff Members

Under the Teams tab, select Add Staff and invite helpers such as an assistant coach, and team parent. Staff members can help manage team communication. Do not remove the Team Manager that is pre-assigned.

Step 3

Invite Fans and Parents

In the Team tab, go to Followers to invite families by email for additional parents to access messaging, schedules, and RSVPs (add them as Family, not just Fans).

Scheduling Practices,  Games and Team Events

GameChanger can be used to create practices, confirm game imports, set recurring events, add arrival times, and notify the team.

Create an Event

Go to Schedule or Events, tap Add Event, then fill in the date, time, location, and event type.

Set Recurring Practices

For weekly practices, use Repeats and set a recurrence pattern such as weekly.

Game Imports

Season games are usually imported from Sports Connect, so coaches should not need to enter league games manually.

Save and Notify

After saving an event, select Save and Message Team so families receive notifications.

Arrival Time for U10 and Older

For teams U10 and older, we recommend setting an arrival time of 50 to 60 minutes before game time for warmups, check-in, and a team talk. Add the arrival time to the Notes section of the event so families know what to expect.

Adding Locations and Notes

Event notes are one of the most useful parts of GameChanger. They help families arrive at the right place, at the right time, with the right gear.

Location

Use the park name, field number, or clear location detail. If it is a shared park, be specific.

Notes

Add arrival time, parking tips, warm-up reminders, uniform color, snacks, or special instructions.

Field Clarity

Instead of only listing the park, add details like “Field 3 near the playground” when helpful.

Weather

The schedule area may include weather information for games, but coaches should still communicate field or schedule changes clearly.

Messaging the Team

Use GameChanger messaging for general team communication, field changes, cancellations, reminders, and parent updates.

Message the Whole Team

Use the Message Team function from the team home screen whenever sending an update meant for everyone.

Avoid Side Chats

Creating separate group chats can leave some families out and cause confusion.

Email the Full Team

For attachments or families who have not downloaded the app, use Home, select your team, Message Team, then Email.

Communication Tip

Always use Message Team for whole-team updates. Do not create a new individual group chat unless you are intentionally messaging only a small group.

Managing Attendance and RSVPs

Players and parents can RSVP directly in the app before practices and games. Coaches can view RSVPs by tapping the event in the schedule.

Plan Better Practices

RSVPs help coaches adjust drills, teams, and activities based on who will attend.

Know Who Is Coming

Attendance tracking helps coaches prepare for practice and game day.

Encourage Families

Remind families to RSVP early and update their response if plans change.

Coaching Notes and Best Practices

Use Event Notes

Add warm-up start time, parking notes, field location, or reminders like “bring black jersey.”

Be Specific

If the location is a shared park, specify the field number or nearby landmark.

Encourage RSVPs

RSVPs make it easier to plan practices and know who is available for games.

Keep Communication Inclusive

Message the full group so every family receives the same information.

How to Score a Game in GameChanger

GameChanger makes it easy to keep track of your team’s score, players, and game events from your phone. Scoring is optional for many teams, but it can be useful for team records and end-of-season stats (for example, you can see a player #5 scored 48 goals in the 17 games of their Fall season through all-stars to Western Championships). Step 1

Open Your Team

Open the GameChanger app, tap your team name under Your Teams, and confirm your schedule is up to date.

Step 2

Select the Game

Tap the game you want to score and choose Start Game or Score Game, depending on your view.

Step 3

Set Up Lineup

This step is optional. Tap Lineup before starting the game if you want to arrange players, jersey numbers, positions, or notes.

Step 4

Score the Game

Record events such as goals, assists, shots, saves, and substitutions. Keep it simple if needed.

Step 5

Halftime and Full Time

Tap Halftime when the first half ends and End Game when the match is complete.

Game Scoring Tips

  • Keep it simple. Recording only goals and assists is fine.
  • Designate a team parent or assistant coach to handle scoring during games.
  • Do not let the app distract from coaching and watching the players.
  • For league and tournament play, continue to enter official results in MatchTrak after the game.
